Our home at Christmas

Our exterior Christmas Decorations are the result of twenty years of designing and redesigning. Each year Jack tries to add or change something.

More than just twinkle lights. . .

Jack always takes into consideration that the house must look as beautiful during the daylight hours as it does at night.

In December 2023, for the first time we entered the competition for the best decorated home in our village, and we won First Prize in the Classic Catagory.

Decorating Tips

A spacious living room with large windows, adorned with sheer white curtains allowing sunlight to stream in, illuminating the room. The furniture is a mix of modern and classic styles, with plush armchairs and a coffee table made of natural wood. The walls are painted a soft, neutral color, and there are plants scattered throughout the room. The overall aesthetic is bright, airy, and inviting.

Special Touches on a budget. . . 

Many of the decorations are Jack's own creations. These hanging baskets are made from $9 baskets from Home Depot. Jack adds a round Styrofoam insert surrounded by artificial pine garland. Then using wooden/wire florist pins, he adds decorative Christmas balls, and finally some tiny lights.

The dining chairs are upholstered in a rich, velvet fabric and have a modern, geometric design. The walls are painted a deep, charcoal grey, providing a dramatic backdrop for the artwork.

You can never have too many bows. . .

Originally, the columns were adorned with large red bells with green bows. Last year, Jack moved the bells to the side deck railings and replaced them with these large metal bows. 

A cozy bedroom with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bed is covered in a luxurious duvet with a rich, textured weave. The bedspread is made of a soft, velvet fabric in a deep, jewel tone. The walls are painted a soft, neutral color, and there are a variety of patterns and textures throughout the room, including a patterned throw pillow, a textured rug, and a woven wall tapestry.

Special lighting system accents the porch

Jack designed and built a special LED lighting system that is mounted at the base of the railings, illuminating the entire porch. This is a permanent feature of our home, and it accents the red and green decorations at Christmas.  

Jack's Christmas Music

This CD is a collection of sacred Christmas music and a few popular secular Christmas songs. I intentionally designed this collection to appeal to non-Christians in the hopes that the sacred songs on the album would fill them with the Holy Spirit. For a mission project, the Quartet produced this CD as a gift for folks who attended their fundraising concert to benefit the Thornwell Children's Home. The Christmas Story

The Humble Birth

The story emphasizes Jesus' birth in a simple manger, highlighting the contrast between his divine nature and his earthly beginnings.
